Is a famous Slovak entrepreneur, a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in Salzburg, an economy diplomat, a famous entrepreneur, scientist and author of professional monographs. He was apprenticed as a lathe operator in the factory “Závody ťažkého strojárstva” (Company of Heavy Engineering) in Považská Bystrica (former Czechosolovakia) and he worked as the lathe operator in the company “Opravovne poľnohospodárskych strojov” (Repair Company of Agricultural Machines) in Košice (former Czechoslovakia). During his life he has been a designer, secondary school teacher, TV editor and foreign correspondent of the Czechoslovak Television in Hungary, Yugoslavia and Rumania, editor in chief of the Central Editorial Office of the Programmes from Abroad, the director of the Centre of Journalist Information in Prague and Bratislava, director of the Central European Development Company with the seat in the UK, professor assistant at the universities in Trenčín and Banská Bystrica (both Slovakia). In 2001 he was appointed professor of Industry Management by the President of the Slovak Republic. His current working career is connected with the entrepreneurial and scientific and publishing activities. He has built an internationally reputable multinational I.D.C. Holding, a.s. where he held the position of the General Director and where he has been the chairman of the I.D.C. Holding Supervisory Board since the company was founded. Currently the joint-stock company associates a portfolio of enterprises and belongs to the largest producers of confectionery and biscuits in Central Europe. The popular rim coated wafer biscuits Horalky, Tatranky, Kávenky, Kakaové rezy, Mila, Lina and candies Verbena and Snehulky belong to the most famous products. His foundation supports the science and education as well as publishing books. He himself is an author of tens of professional publications especially from the area of economy, entrepreurship and company management. The following publications belong to the most important ones: Quadrology – Marketing Strategy of a Holding-Type Company (1998 – 2001), Reengineering of Entrepreneurial Processes (1999), World Class Company (2001), Strategy of a World Class Company (2002), the pentalogy Enterprise and Entrepreneurship (the first volume in 2006, the second volume in 2008, the third volume in 2010, the fourth and fifth volume in 2011). Professor Štefan Kassay belongs to the significant personalities of the Slovak science on an international scale. He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. He is a laureate of several Slovak and foreign awards. Based on the recommendation of the Slovak government the President of the Slovak Republic awarded him the medal “Pribinov kríž II. Triedy” (Pribina Cross of Second Class). He is a member of the Academic Council of the University of Management in Bratislava, the scientific editor of the magazine Acta Mechanica Slovaca and a member of several editorial boards of scientific magazines. The pentalogy Enterprise and Entrepreneurship describes the foundation, building, management and development of the company I.D.C. Holding, a.s. This work is in our Central and East European region the most extensive work of its kind containing about 4 500 pages. It has been translated to five languages and is successfully finding its place also in foreign countries. After its language versions have been issued in Russia, Poland and Hungary, its English version is penetrating ven 38 countries in Europe, Asia and America. The pioneer work of professor Štefan Kassay (after a successful presentation at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic) with the recommendation of the Vice Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák is being distributed to selected Slovak embassies in the framework of the project of strengthening the economic diplomacy. Our representative offices utilise these books as a tool for spreading a good reputation of the Slovak Republic abroad. Therefore it is no coincidence that Miroslav Lajčák awarded professor Kassay a golden medal for his activities in the area of the economic diplomacy. Moreover, the pentalogy Enterprise and Entrepreneurship the Russian version) successfully establishes on he Asian continent. Publications were introduced as a teaching subject at Kazakh and Kyrgyz universities in the 2016 – 2017 academic year. The MANAGEMENT book edition is ranked in the curriculum by three major economic universities in Finland in 2018. At present, electronic publishing of these books is available online at launched worldwide within the Shared European Production Platform project.
